Going down

Reading ‘The Polish Officer’ by Alan Furst. There is a short description of Blenheim bombers raiding Calais in September 1940, with wingtips passing not 10 feet from house windows, that raised my curiosity about this aircraft. The loss of plane and crew was very high during the first half of 1940.. by a quick glance at stats, about a one in two chance of returning from a bombing raid.

During wars there are only victims, when, in the end, a few reap rewards out of the life sacrifices made by so many.
